When it comes to rolls operating in tough environments, ensuring a long lifespan and optimal performance is crucial. One key step in this process is the final machining after the roll has been equipped with a new wear-resistant coating. This is the last stage before delivery to the customer.

Typically, we turn the roll to achieve the correct outer diameter. However, for coatings with a hardness below 80 Shore A, we recommend grinding to ensure a smoother surface and optimal finish.

During the casting process, an additional material allowance is incorporated into the diameter. This allowance facilitates the removal of air bubbles that may form during mold filling, enabling them to rise into the excess material before the coating cures. The surplus material is subsequently removed during final machining and repurposed by sending it to the local heating plant, ensuring an environmentally responsible disposal process.
